地道な作業から始まるカキ養殖

カキの幼生をホタテ貝殻につけ、それの貝殻と竹やビニールの管（クダ）などを交互に通した連をぶら下げ、成育を待って収穫されます。
カキ部の仕事はその採苗器を作ることです。

採苗とはカキの幼生を海中から採取することです。夏（7月中旬‐9月中旬）に卵からかえったカキは2週間漂ったあと、固着物に付着します。
採苗器は膨大な数のホタテの貝がらと管からできています。

牡蠣養殖の会社に場所を提供いただきて宮島に近い海岸近くで作業を行っています。大量に出来上がった採苗器を納品したり、材料の帆立貝や管（クダ）それに金属ワイヤーを入手しやすいからです。
